

Mr. Harold E. Potter, age 85, of Potsdam, NY passed away on Tuesday, December 20th at the St. Regis Nursing Home where he had been a patient since April 2, 2015. Funeral service for Harold will be held on Friday, December 23rd at 11 am with Rev. Scott Daby celebrant. Burial will take place in the spring at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Parishville, NY. Harold is survived by his wife Edna Potter of Potsdam, NY; sons Rick (Annemarie) Adams and John (Theresa) Newtown of Winthrop, NY; daughter Cathy (Scott) Spoor of Ellenburg Depot, NY; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Virginia Wilson; sons Michael and Daryl Potter; sisters Mary Burnett, Grace Slate and Peggy Burns and brothers Richard and Less Potter.
Harold E. Potter was born on June 2, 1931 in Canton, NY to the late Lee R. Potter and Aura B. Streeter. He attended Massena Central Schools. He served his country in the United States Air Force from July 10, 1955 until receiving his honorable discharge on June 28, 1959. He served during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany. Upon his return to the States he was married to Virginia Wilson. She died in 1993. He worked at Alcoa in Massena for a few years and then went to work for General Motors where he remained until his retirement. On November 27, 1993 he was married to Edna Daby. They split their time between Florida and Potsdam together for many years. Harold was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a hunting camp up on Sterling Pond for years. He also traveled all over North America hunting and fishing.
