Jane (Davies) Fiesinger, 101, passed away peacefully in her own bed in her own home in Potsdam early Monday morning July 20th, 2015. She was predeceased by F. William (Bill) Fiesinger in the Fall of 2013, shortly after they celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary. Jane was born on July 16, 1914 in Montrose, Pennsylvania, the second daughter of Elliott and Irene (Searle) Davies. For a few of her young years, Jane lived with her paternal Grandmother Ella LaGrange Davies. She returned to live with her parents and finished her secondary school education at Corning Free Academy in 1931. The best thing about returning to Corning was Jane's meeting of Bill Fiesinger, the love of her life. They began their 70 years of marriage on September 20, 1943. Upon Bill's return from the Army, the family settled in the Syracuse area. Their first child, Tom, arrived as an early Christmas present in 1946. Their second child, Mary Jane (Kane), was a Valentine present in 1948 and Anne rounded out the family in the Autumn of 1951. Along with the work of managing their home and giving her children a good upbringing, Jane found time to serve as a Leader and neighborhood Co-Chair for the Girl Scouts and as a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Liverpool, NY. Jane continued her service activities when the family moved to Potsdam in 1960, when Bill took a new job with Clarkson. She continued to work with the Girl Scouts and joined the Hospital Guild to help bring comfort to those who needed to spend some time there for treatment. Jane also provided support for Bill at the many Clarkson meetings, events and gatherings that were held in the Potsdam area. His successful career was in no small part due to the support she provided at these events and for the family when he was away.
Jane is survived by her three children, Tom Fiesinger of Glenmont, NY; Mary Jane Kane of Rockville, MD; Anne Fiesinger and her significant other, James "Murph" Yule, of Boston, MA; grandchildren Jennifer DeAnda of Monterey, CA and Peter Kane and wife Paulina Perera-Riveroll of New York City; and great-grandchildren Ruben, Valentina, Mateo, and Alexandro DeAnda and Stella Kane. Jane, to her last evening, showed family and friends how to love, be loved, be kind, smile and feel joy. In 101 years her words got softer, but in all those years her "Thank you" supply never ran out, whether expressed by soft word or a little gentle nod. Many caregivers shared love and caring times with Jane over several years allowing her to manage the difficulties of her advanced years and to enjoy her sunset time at home in a caring environment .
