Jeff was born on July 11, 1962 in Potsdam, NY to Donald R. James and Patricia A. Green. He was a graduate of Potsdam High School, Class of 1981. He graduated Mohawk Community College with a degree in Art in 1984. After graduating, he lived in Dobbs Ferry where he learned screen printing and also paved stone. On February 14, 1998, he married Jane M. Hayes. He was the current owner of Special Tee Printing in Potsdam. Early in his career, he helped lay the bricks in Lake Placid where the Olympic Torch was lit. Jeff was an active guy who greatly loved his Jeep. He enjoyed playing hockey, and was a member of several different community teams including Ton’s Sunday Night Hockey, Norfolk Hockey League (NHL) Part Timers, and Thursday Night Hockey. Jeff was also a referee of high school and college soccer, high school hockey, and high school lacrosse. Jeff did not enjoy dressing up so his wish was that people wear hockey jerseys to his funeral. Please join his family in this great tribute to him. Immediately following burial service on Saturday, April 20th, there will be a Celebration of Life at the Parishville Amvets.

Jeff and I reffed countless hockey games together during my time as a student at Clarkson University. My thoughts are with Jeff’s family and friends during this time. Jeff was a great person and it saddens me to learn of what happened. Jeff’s kind spirit and infectious smile will stick with me and will be forever remembered by his community. Rest easy Jeff.

My deepest condolences to the James family during this difficult time! I was lucky to get to know Jeff in the summer of 1982 and 1983. Although many years passed before we reconnected, I always remember the fun we had as young adults. May you RIP Jeff.
