Mrs. Mary H. Hourihan, age 85, of 867 Bagdad Road Potsdam, NY passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018 while she was surrounded by her family at her residence. Born March 30, 1933 in Potsdam, NY to Agnes Savage and Joseph G. Henry, she graduated from Potsdam High School in 1951 and from A. Barton Hepburn School of Nursing in Ogdensburg, NY in 1954. She was a registered Nurse and a licensed New York State Nursing Home Administrator. She was affiliated with the Potsdam Nursing Home for over 41 years, retiring in 1990.
She married James M. Hourihan on April 11, 1959 in Potsdam. They have resided in Potsdam (in the big white house on the Bagdad Road) since 1963. Mary is survived her husband James M; her children James Hourihan and companion Pam Shea, Gerald Hourihan and his wife Rebecca, twin daughters Rebecca Hourihan and her companion Frank Battista and Victoria and her husband Cort Jacot. Also, 4 grandchildren with whom she dearly loved Daniel Hourihan, Lliam and Lleyton Hourihan and Jaeleigh Jacot. Her two dearest friends and card playing buddies Linda Bronson and Yvonne Hourihan. Also, surviving are a sister Genevieve Hafer, Potsdam and a brother in law Charles Reff, Watertown and a sister in law Marlene Henry, West Monroe and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother Joseph Henry and a sister Patricia Reff.

Calling hours will be held at the Garner Funeral Home on Friday, November 16th from 2-6 pm. There will not be a funeral service but there will be a closing prayer at 6pm and a graveside service at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Brasher Falls, NY on Saturday, November 24th at 1pm with Rev.
