Myrtle Mae Graves

Myrtle Mae Graves, age 86, of Hannawa Falls, NY passed away on Thursday, November 03, 2011 at her residence in the town of Pierrepont while under the care of her family and the Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley. Funeral Services will be held at the Garner Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 11 am with Rev. James E. Barnes II officiating. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow the service at the Bayside Cemetery in Potsdam, NY. Myrtle is survived by a son Roy (Deborah) Graves of Colton; a daughter Carol (David) Beecher of Baldwinsville; Grandson Dustin (Stacey) Graves of Hannawa Falls; sisters Florence Mousaw of Norwood, Irene Peters of Hewittville and Linda (Alton) Knapp of Greenwich, NY; Edward Morse her companion since 1992 and his children Sandie Brooks, Barbara Robbins, Patricia Arduine, and Edward Jr., Chuck, Jerry and Philip Morse.

She is predeceased by her husband Roy who died on August 10, 1989.

Myrtle Mae Graves was born on July 22, 1925 in North Bangor, NY to the late Ralph A. and Della M. Murray Trimm. She was a 1943 graduate of Potsdam High School. On October 16, 1947 at the United Methodist Church in Potsdam, NY she was married to Roy D. Graves. Myrtle worked at the Oval Wood Dish, Grants Local Retail Store and then in 1968 she went to work as a secretary in the Guidance Office at the Potsdam High School. She retired in 1987.

She was a member of the Potsdam Elks Lodge, the VFW and was a 50 year member of the American Legion. Her hobbies were flowers, knitting, crocheting and watching the river flow. . Contributions in her memory can be made to either the American Legion or to the Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley.
