

Ray was born on April 28, 1930 to the late Vernon and Phila Prashaw Claflin. Ray entered the Air Force after graduating from Norwood High School. After finishing his time in the Air Force, Ray returned to the area and worked at the Alcoa Aluminum plant in Massena, New York as an inspector until his retirement. He married Constance Fuller on June 15, 1957 at St. Mary's Church in Potsdam, New York.
Ray enjoyed watching sporting events, especially Syracuse University football and basketball and the New York Yankees. He closely followed the Clarkson hockey team and held season tickets to their games for many years.
In his later years, he particularly enjoyed coffee time chats at McDonalds with his friends. A special thank you to the staff there for their kindness and to his friends for the joy given to him by time spent with them.
Ray is predeceased by his wife Connie Fuller Claflin, his parents, Vernon and Phila Claflin, and his sister Freda Sanpier.
Ray is survived by his son Ray Claflin, Jr. of Potsdam, NY: a daughter Deborah (Timothy) Lagoe of Schuylerville, NY: grandchildren, Amanda Lagoe, Meaghan (Lagoe) Bellard and Chelsey (Claflin) Cook, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service for Ray at St. Mary's Cemetery on October 29th at 11:30 am.
