Steven A. Keleher passed suddenly at the Canton Potsdam Hospital on August 30, 2026, at the age of 72. Steven was born on June 28, 1954, Steven was a resident of West Stockholm, N.Y. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 3-7 pm. Funeral service will be held the next day at the Garner Funeral Service at 10:30 am with Rev. Scott Belina celebrant. Burial will follow the service at the West Stockholm Cemetery. Contributions in Steve's memory can be made to the Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department @ P. O. Steve is survived by his wife Patricia "Patti" Keleher, mother Hilda Keleher, son Timothy (Melinda) Keleher, siblings Frank (Karen) Keleher, Robin (Terry) Russell, Alice Farnsworth, John (Kelly) Keleher, grandchildren Trevor (Kimberly) Keleher, Jacob (Angel) Keleher, Mathew Keleher, Megan (Jessie) Quealy, Chase Berquist, great grandchildren Lucas, Jameson and Brady Keleher and Mason Quealy and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son Edward Keleher and his wife Sheri Keleher, father Frank Keleher, and nephew David Keleher.
Steven A. Keleher was born on June 28, 1954 in Potsdam, NY to Frank and Hilda Jerome Keleher. He was a graduate of Potsdam Central High School. He was married to Patti Curtis on March 20, 1976 at St. Mary's Church in Potsdam. Steve went to work for the Village of Potsdam after graduating high school. He remained there until his retirement in 2018 after 35 years of service.
Steve was an avid sports fan. He rooted for the New York Yankees, New York Giants and the New York Rangers. Steve was an excellent athlete himself. He played several sports in high school and then he played men's league softball for over 40 years. He was also a referee. He was a high school football referee for over 25 years as well as a referee for Potsdam Junior Hockey for over 25 years. Steve also was a referee for several junior sports for years too, especially Pop Warner Football. He was a coach for Pop Warner Football for several years too with his brother John.
Steve was a longtime member of the Elk's Lodge, a member of the Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department for 54 years. He was currently their treasure which was a title he has held for several years. He enjoyed hunting and going for side by side rides with his wife Patti.
