Dearest Farzad, Taranae & Arian

As the first American member of our extended family, Terrie was such a uniquely kind, gentle, cheerful, fun and generous soul for me to interact with upon our first meeting that the experience has never left me all these years since (I can still hear her voice answering the phone when I used to call Farzad) and so it was with quite a heartbreaking shock that my own American wife, Lea and I received the tragic news of Terrie's passing. Please accept our deepest heartfelt condolences and sympathies for the loss of your beloved wife and mother.

You all know how instrumental Terrie was in the process of first hand evaluation of Lea for my parents. Farzad and Terrie's positive impressions of how we interacted with them marked the turning of the tide of how my parents began to accept us as a couple before we got married so you guys were the pioneers whose footsteps we followed and thus we owe an eternal debt of gratitude to Terrie and Farzad for that.

Lea told me how nice it was to have another compatriot in the family at that time that she could ask the essential questions from and the same was true for me to ask "other", non-family related questions from so Terrie became a safe nexus of information for the both of us.

Terrie introduced me to many different things after our first meeting back in the summer of 1990, just after Taranae was born. Isn't it interesting that one of those was the music of HEART? I Still listen to Heart and every time I do, I am reminded of my time with Terrie. Thank you, you Beautiful Soul. You will be so sorely missed. Our world is lessened by your absence but you shall live on in our Hearts for as long as we live. May you rest in peace, surrounded by Love & Light.

A donation to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network has been made in Terrie's memory.

Farzad, Taranae and Arian, we love you and our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

Very Sincerely,

Datis & Lea Alaee

To Farzad, Taranae and Arian,

Please accept our family’s deepest condolences. I had the pleasure of getting to know Terrie through Kumon when I signed our sons up for the program a number of years ago. We were the same age, had children the same age (Arian and Frances were friendly and in the same class in school) and we both came to the area as trailing spouses of professor-husbands – so we occasionally swapped stories; there was a recognition between us. Terrie was a very friendly, very positive and open person.

We are deeply saddened for you and the rest of her family. She will truly be missed in the Clarkson and Potsdam communities in which she involved herself in so many different ways over the years.

With kindest thoughts and deepest regrets,
Suzanne Smith & Geoffrey Clark
and our children

Terre was a dear friend during our high school years. I will never forget our many “girl talks.” Filled with compassion and wisdom, she Faalways knew the right thing to say. Terrie always found a way to stay in touch. We may not have connected often, but when we did, it was as if there had been no years between us. She will always be known for her precious spirit and kind heart. Terrie, you will be truly missed. Prayers for her family as you are going through this difficult time.

Dear Farzad, Taranae and Arian,

Lipi and I are so sad to hear the devastating news. Terrie was such a graceful person.

Farzad, you and Terrie made us feel so comfortable when we came to Potsdam the first time. We had the opportunity to meet with her a few times. Her kind words, endearing smile and openness of mind in every interaction were difficult to forget. Her special interest in promoting mathematical ability of young children in Potsdam community was so touching. She was Hari's first math teacher. Hari was heartbroken to know about the loss. He still remembers Terrie’s care and attention to his interests and her affection to little Paris.

Lipi and I always admire the beauty of her character when we see Taranae and Arian. She was certainly an inspiring mother.

It is difficult to comprehend the void that you are experiencing with her loss.

We pray Almighty to give you the strength to live through this difficult time and keep her tender soul in eternal peace.

Santosh and Lipi

Dear Farzad, Taranae and Arian,

Words can not begin to describe how sad we are at the loss of your wife, mom and our friend. Our hearts grieve with you. We loved your mom! She was gentle and kind, exceedingly kind. She was strong! Stronger than you will probably ever know. She loved her family fiercely. She was proud of each of you—Farzad, for your intelligence and ability to impart your wisdom to so many fortunate students, Taranae and Arian, for both of your kind natures, intelligence, accomplishments and beauty (inside and out). She would always share pictures of you and and tell us what each of you were doing and where you were living. We parents love doing this. We love hearing about each others’ families and sharing our challenges and our victories. It’s really special when you’ve known each others’ children when they were young and have seen them blossom into adults. She loved her cats and dog, Paris. They brought her so much joy and love. Animals are amazing in this way.
Terrie was a lady in the truest sense. She loved her formal teas and dinner parties. She loved antiques, crystal and fine china. She loved Versailles and all of the beautiful and ornate palaces and museums of her travels. She loved her Zoomba classes! She was a fabulous Kumon teacher to Elwood and Elizabeth! This is how we came to know Terrie and her wonderful family!

Being new in a small community can be very challenging. However, it’s the people who make it wonderful and welcoming. Terrie was one of those people. She welcomed our family (and others) and made it wonderful. She was wonderful. She touched so many lives and spread her love, light, joy and quiet fortitude.
We will miss Terrie but know her spirit lives on and the love she showed so many will never end. Heaven has gained an angel.
Farzad, Taranae and Arian, please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. With love, Julie, Skip, Elwood & Elizabeth Leonard
