Mr. Thomas C. Mauchly, age 82, of Potsdam, NY, passed away suddenly on June 19th in the Emergency Room at the Canton Potsdam Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 10 am at St. Mary’s Church with Msgr. Robert Aucoin, celebrant. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Sunday, from 2-5 pm. Mr. Thomas C. Mauchly was born on June 29, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio to Emmanual Clark and Marie Mauchly. He moved to New Rochelle, NY as a child and he then attended Iona Prep School, St. Michael’s in Toronto, Canada. He then attended Clarkson University. He founded and was the owner and operator of Potsdam Welding and Machine Company. He retired from Jefford’s Steel in 2010.
Tom was a member of St. Mary’s Church and was a lifetime member of the Potsdam Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Enslow of Potsdam; daughters Sue (Mark) Hewitson of Hannawa Falls, NY; Judy Mauchly of Ellicott City, MD; Cindy Mauchly of Albuquerque, NM; son Clark (Jennifer) Mauchly of Geneva, NY; step children Scott and Bobbi Jo Saber of Potsdam; grandchildren Henry (Jamie) Elwyn, Christina Elwyn; Lindsey Nixon; Clark and Graham Mauchly; Cory Saber and 4 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandson Sean Nixon.
