William M. J. Burkett

Mr. William M. J. “Willy” Burkett, age 46 of Potsdam passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 28th. He was pronounced in the ER at the Canton Potsdam Hospital. Arrangements are with the Garner Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 1st at 10:30 am at the Knapp Station Community Church. Burial will follow the service at the West Stockholm Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the family home at 365 Heath Road Potsdam, NY on Tuesday from 1-8 pm.

Willy is survived by his mother Evelyn Burkett; daughters Lindsey LaDue Beamis, Lauren Morrill and Hannah Votra; brothers Joseph Charleson, Alan Charleson, Edward Charleson and Jerry Burkett; sisters Shelly Lederle and Barbara Burkett; grandchildren Emma Beamis, Carson Beamis and Cole Haggadony and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Mark Burkett who died in 2005.

William M. J. Burkett was born on October 6, 1967 in Potsdam, NY to Mark and Evelyn Powell Burkett. He was a 1986 graduate of Potsdam Central High School. Willy did some farming but was disabled due to a heart condition. Willy was a fun loving, easy going person who loved every day like it was his last.
