Mr. William ‘Billy’ P. Meashaw, age 73, of Parishville, NY passed away on August 31st after a tragic accident that occurred in the town of Parishville. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Sunday, September 9th from 4-7 pm. A funeral service will be held the following day at 10:30 am at the Garner Funeral Home in Potsdam, NY with Rev. Lee Sweeney celebrant. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to the Parishville ATV Club in c/o Lucy Lucas PO Box 752, Parishville, NY 13672, the Parishville Rescue Squad, or the Parishville Volunteer Fire Department. Burial will follow the service at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Parishville, NY.
Billy is survived by his daughters Becky (Kevin) Kingsley of Potsdam and Tiffany (Draper Sharlow) Eakins of Hopkinton; son Phillip (Kristen) Meashaw of Johnstown; brothers Byron and Robert Meashaw; grandchildren Kyle, Kaileigh and Karissa Kingsley, Andrew and Evan Meashaw and Cole and Trent Eakins. He is predeceased by his wife Jean who died January 24, 2012.
Billy was born in Potsdam, NY to the late Glenford and Rosabel Parker Meashaw. He was a 1963 graduate of Parishville-Hopkinton Central School. On June 18, 1966 he was married to Jean M. Moses. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the United States Army from October 5, 1965 until July 15, 1967. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to the North Country and worked at ALCOA in Massena, NY retiring with over 30 years of service.
Billy loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter. He was a member of the Diamond Sports Club, Weller Mountain and Sylvan Falls Club and of the Parishville ATV Club. He was a former member and a past assistant chief of the Parishville Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed riding his ATVs. He was an all around avid sports fan. He played softball and he was also an umpire. He really loved going to watch all of his grandchildren play all of their sports.
