
Alfred Morris Cook, age 86, of Prattville, Alabama, passed away on Friday July 26, 2024 at his Residence. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Alfred Cook and his parents, Morris and Mina Cook. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Esther McFarland Cook; son, Jerry Cook (Debby); daughters Selena Gray (Greg), Teresa Cook, and Sheila Simersky (Frank) all of Prattville, Al., brother, Bob Cook (Shirley) and sisters, Sybil Lee (Frank) and Margaret Andrews; and his ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mr. Cook served in the US Navy, was a retired fire fighter for both the city of Montgomery and Prattville. He was also long time funeral director and manager of Ridouts Prattville Chapel until his retirement. He was a member of the Lions Club. He was presented with the Melvin Jones Fellow award for his dedicated Humanitarian Service in the Lions Club International Foundation. He was faithful member of his church, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, were he served as Deacon and chairman of the Cemetery Committee. But more than all that, Mr. Cook was a husband, father and grandfather. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
The visitation will be on Monday night from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ridouts Prattville Chapel. The Funeral service will be on Tuesday July 30, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church 1530 Bridge Creek Road Prattville, Al. Brother Jerry Cleckler Officiating. Pallbearers will be Bob Cook, Patrick Cook, Bryant Cook, Frank Simersky, Taylor Cook, Caleb Williams, and Randal Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Prattville Lions Club and-Montgomery Firefighters-Retirees Association.
The family would like to thank Josh Bingham, Terry Brown and the Firemen of Station Number 1 of the Prattville Fire Dept. and the Center of Well Health and Traditions Hospice for their loving care.
