

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jennie and Herman Hand; brother, Arnold Hand; sister, Carolyn Miller; and her beloved son, Scott Palmer. Althea is survived by her devoted husband, Stephen Palmer; her son, Chad Palmer and his wife Beverly Palmer; son, Todd Palmer and wife Lisa Palmer; her cherished grandchildren, Amanda Camp, Jessi Beasley, Trey Palmer, Meagan Daly, and Michael Chandler; and her adored great-grandchildren, Ellie Camp, Althea Beasley, Aiden Camp, and Cohen Palmer.
Throughout her life, Althea was a pillar of strength and love. Althea was born and raised in Palmerton, PA. She later met her husband, Stephen Palmer, while working at Trexler Orchards. After Steve completed basic training, the couple married and started their life together in Ohio. Althea raised three boys while navigating the challenges of motherhood, military life, and the boy’s ever growing appetites . She worked for the Civil Service for 43.5 years and retired at the age of 79.
Althea was a grandmother in the truest sense—always present and ever supportive. Whether spending entire weekends at the baseball fields cheering on her grandchildren or hosting Friday night sleepovers, her love and devotion were constant.
Quiet in speech but unwavering in her devotion, Althea’s gentle nature and love for her family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
