Obituary of Barney Hedrick
Our precious dad, Barney Hedrick, entered heaven yesterday morning, March 11, 2023 in the comfort of his home. Barney Rudolph Hedrick was born on September 1, 1937 in Stone County, Arkansas. He was the son of Barney Hayes Hedrick and Mary Ruth Goolsby Hedrick. He spent a good portion of his youth in Belton, Texas. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he then served in civil service supporting the Air Force for an additional 32 years as an electronics engineer. He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVelle Moore Herick. He was married to LaVelle for 55 years. They raised 3 children, had 7 grandchildren, and enjoyed a bounty of great-grandchildren. He was an accomplished artist working in multiple mediums, with his work being enjoyed by friends and family worldwide. While he did enjoy art and did work to hone his craft, his greatest passion was his family. He was steadfast in his loyalty to God, family and country. His kind and gentle spirit was equaled by his fierce support of his children and grandchildren in all of their endeavors. He was our biggest fan, our wise counsel, and our anchor. He was a quiet man, but was known, respected, and loved by all. He was a man of great faith & an excellent student of the Bible. He read and learned from scripture daily, and enjoyed companionship in his church bible study group. We will celebrate his life on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Heritage Baptist Church in Prattville, Alabama. The family will receive visitors at 1:00 pm and will celebrate his life at 2:00pm. We are grateful for excellent care he received from so many health professionals. We have been so blessed by many kind gestures of food, phone calls, visits and messages. Thank you so much for surrounding us with support and prayer. It is so evident to us that he was deeply admired by many. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Montgomery Cancer Center in his memory. If you have a special memory, photograph, or a piece of his artwork that you would like to share, please feel free to post a picture and/or comment. Our family would be so encouraged to see the depth and the breadth of his life’s work. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ridoutsprattvillechapel.com for the Hedrick family.
