

Carrie Elizabeth (Betty) Allen, age 89, passed away on June 12, 2017, of complications of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Most recently she was a resident of Round Rock, TX. Prior to that, she had been a resident of Millbrook, AL from June 1976 to April 2016. She was born in Selma, Alabama on April 16, 1928. She was the only child of John E. Lee and Minnie Green. She married Leonard H. Allen on February 14, 1947, in Montgomery, AL. They were the parents of five children.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many church positions including primary teacher, president of the primary children organization, and president of the women’s Relief Society in the Millbrook/Prattville Wards. She was an expert seamstress and quilter, and also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed gardening and canned much of the food she produced.
She is survived by her son, Leonard H. Allen Jr. (Donna), Round Rock, TX, and four daughters: Marilyn Franklin, (Michael), Prattville, AL; Gail Rasmussen, (James), Albuquerque, NM; Debbie Stauffer, (Bob), Prattville, AL; and Becky Stiggins, (Chuck), Provo, UT . She has 14 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be from 5–7 PM on Sunday, July 16th at the Ridout’s Brown Chapel, 347 East Main Street, Prattville, AL. Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Monday, July 17th at the LDS chapel in Magnolia, AL followed by interment at the Goose Creek Cemetery in Marengo County, AL.
