Catherine (Henegar) O'Neil

Catherine (Henegar) O’Neil, 97, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2020, one month shy of her 98th birthday. Mrs. O’Neil was born on November 2, 1922, to parents Thomas Hiram Henegar and Ora Elsie McMurray Henegar, in Meridian, MS. Mrs. O’Neil grew up in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, graduated from Woodlawn High School, Birmingham in 1940. She was married to the late John T. O’Neil, who passed away in 1968.

Mrs. O’Neil was a long-time resident of Winter Haven, FL, having transferred from the Birmingham office of Rath Packing Company to Winter Haven, FL after the death of her husband. She moved to Prattville, AL in 2015 to be near her sister’s (Grace H. Moffett) children: Carol (Del) Blackwood; Bill (Rosemary) Moffett; and Barbara (Wayne) Easterling, and their families.

Mrs. O’Neil retired from Rath-Auburndale, FL in 1982 after many years as the office manager. She was an active member of Lake Alfred Presbyterian Church, Lake Alfred, FL until she moved from Florida.

As the last child of Thomas H. and Ora Henegar, she was preceded in death by her parents, and thirteen siblings. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 1:00PM at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, AL.
