Charles Dennis "Charlie" Hillebrand

Charles Dennis “Charlie” Hillebrand, 73, of Prattville, Alabama passed away Sunday May 21, 2017. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Thursday May 25th at St Mark’s Episcopal Church followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM in the church sanctuary with The Reverend Scott Arnold officiating.

Mr. Hillebrand was born on May 16, 1944 in Yuba City, California to the late Francis Hillebrand and May Louise Whitmore Hillebrand. He was a U.S Air Force veteran and retired as a Colonel with twenty eight years of service. He was a B-52 bomber pilot and took part in many missions during his time in Vietnam. Other Air Force postings included Korea and stateside service. Mr. Hillebrand was serving as the Executive Director of the Prattville Housing Authority with twenty two years of service. He was a dedicated member of St Mark’s Episcopal Church and took part in the restoration of the church sanctuary. He served the church in other capacities including a lector, lay Eucharist minister and senior warden for the church vestry. He enjoyed golf and building small scale wooden sailing warships. He will always be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help anyone in need.

He is survived by his loving wife Carole of Prattville; three sons; Tom Hillebrand, Britt Downing and his wife Kimberly, Derek Bentley and his wife Suzanne; a daughter, Tracee Phaturos and her husband Russell; a brother, Evan Hillebrand and his wife Stephanie; five grandchildren, Meghan Kestle and her husband Tony, Taylor Phaturos, Emily Downing, Rylee Downing, Jonathan Downing; three grandchildren, Katelyn Kestle, A.J. Kestle, Cooper Elmore and a host of nieces, nephews other family members and many close friends.
