

Adyes Elizabeth Howell, 85, of Verbena, passed away April 7, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Dan Howell; parents, Linton Taylor Ward and Gertrude Ward; brother Henry Ward; sister, Josephine Rodriguez. She is survived by her son, Danny Howell; daughter, Jenice McMillan and son Carl Howell (Jennifer); grandchildren, Lauren Knight (Jeremy) and Crystal Howell; great grandchildren, Laniyah Howell, Kamora Howell and Cameron Knight; sister, Evelyn Oates; and several greatly loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Elizabeth was an outstanding lady. She was one on the first members of the women’s softball team at Forest Park Baptist Church and she was active for many years. She also served as the president of the Women’s Softball Association. Elizabeth enjoyed competing in the Alabama Senior Games up until her death, where she had won many Gold medals and awards with the Master Games throughout her years of competing. At the age of 80 she won the gold medal in the Long Jump. She had retired from the State of Alabama Board of Education in Montgomery County where she drove a school bus for over 25 years. Elizabeth enjoyed working in her rose garden in her spare time and she loved spending time with her great granddaughters Laniyah and Kamora.
Funeral Services for Elizabeth will be Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Ridouts Prattville Chapel at 12:00 PM with the visitation from 11:30 – 12:00. Burial will follow at Shoal Creek Cemetery in Deatsville. Pallbearers will be the Verbena Volunteer Fire Department, Jay, Jeffrey, Logan, Amanda, Samantha and Josh.
