Freddy Alton Thorn passed away Sunday, December 2, at his home in Booth, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Jewel Johnson and William Henry Thorn; sisters, Mary Ruth and Marie; and brothers Billy, Richard, Tommy and Danny.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Carolyn Mills Thorn; His children, Al and wife Dana, Ken, and Joni; his grandchildren, Keary, Trey and wife Natalie, Rachael, and Corey; his great grandchildren, Aubrie, Kaisyn and Jaxson; his sisters, Sarah Merle, Shirley and husband John, Faye, and “Boo” Kaye; his brother, Truman and wife Helen; a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Freddy was a God fearing man who raised his children the same. He came into this world as one of the most loving, kind, giving son and brother. He carried those traits throughout his life and added faithful and loving to all of his family and friends.
Freddy spent most of his career with Hayes International/Pemco World Air Services in Birmingham, Huntsville and Dothan (where he retired as Controller and returned as a consultant). Close to retirement, he moved to Booth, Alabama, and joined Booth United Methodist Church. He was the Treasurer at the Church as long as his health allowed.
There will be a visitation Wednesday, Dec 5, 2018 at Ridouts in Prattville from 9:45-10:45.Then a graveside service will be at Booth Cemetery at 11:30, with fellowship following at Booth Fire Department. Pallbearers to include: Trey Thorn, Corey Thorn, Truman Thorn, Anthony Thorn, Rick Thorn, Raymond Thebo and Blake Freeman. Honorary Pallbearers: Al Thorn and John Wachtel.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Encompass Hospice, especially Trish and Angela. Also, special thanks to caregiver, Jackie Coleman.
