

Harris, Colonel, (USAF retired) Fredric James died Friday, September 2, 2016. Services will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 11:00 from the First United Methodist Church of Prattville with Reverend Bobby Ellisor and Reverend Drew Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Old Oakwood cemetery in Montgomery, Alabama. Fred was born December 21, 1932 in Moorhead, Minnesota. After high school he enlisted in the Air Force with the rank of private. He served twice in the Far East, once in Europe and at many Air Force Bases in the United States. His last assignment was as Commander 47th Communications Group, NORAD Cheyenne Mountain Complex, Colorado. His decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Korean Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal. He is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a BSME and of Auburn University with a MBA. He retired in 1981 to Prattville, Alabama, where he served on numerous community boards and committees. He is preceded in death by his parents Harold A. and Anna M. Harris; a sister, Barbara A. Winger; brothers, George Harris and Steven Harris; and his first wife Rose D. Harris nee Schreiner. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sara Alecia McManus Josey Harris; his eight children, James Edward Josey Jr., Gail Suzette Davis (Charles), Lt. Col. Clair Marie Sheffield (Kenneth), Fredrick Pace Josey (Suzelle), Alecia Marcelle Hicks (Vint), Allison Jean Colwell (Charles), John Christopher Josey (Michele), and Laura Audrey Harris. His extended family includes one sister, Jeanette Proulx (Roger); two brothers, Harold Harris (Peggy) and Claude Harris; 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 100 East 4th Street, Prattville, AL, 36067. Visitation will be at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 5 to 7 PM.Arrangements under the direction of Ridout's-Brown-Service Prattville Chapel, Prattville, AL.
