

LOWTHER, Guerry Samuel, Jr., 63, a resident of Prattville, AL, formerly of Smiths Station, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 in Destin, FL. Sam worked for Auburn University, where he also received his Bachelors and Masters degrees. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Byrd Lowther. Sam is survived by his loving wife, Janis Colee Lowther; father, Guerry Lowther, Sr.; two sisters, Susan (Johnny) Fitzwater and Jeannie Boehmler; two nieces, Rachel (Garrett) Carden and Catherine Fitzwater; two nephews, John Boehmler and Alex Boehmler; two sons, Chip (Christy) Colee and Christopher (Crystal) Colee; three precious grandchildren, Christopher, Caroline and Pearson Colee. Sam was an active member of First Baptist Montgomery where he served in many roles including Sunday School leader and usher. Sam touched many lives with his kind and humble, Christ-like spirit. Pallbearers were Greg Moates, Allen Moates, John Boehmler, Ales Boehmler, Robert Gottesman, Matt Campbell, Richard Lowther, and William Lowther. Honorary Pallbearers were members of the Reagan Sunday School Class. A Celebration of Life Service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the First Baptist Church Montgomery with Rev. Jay Wolf officiating. The family received friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial followed in Prattville Memory Gardens Cemetery. A Visitation and Reception was held at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
