

She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Delehay Sheffer Sr.; father, Robert Wilkins; mother, Ellen Wilkins; and sisters Evie Lee Thompson and Daisy Cargill. She is survived by her two sons, Albert D. Sheffer Jr. (Kathy) and Robert Alec Sheffer (Carolyn); grandchildren, Chad Sheffer (Marissa), Alecia Sheffer and Laura Douberly; great-grandchildren, Zach Sheffer, Kendall Sheffer, Keeli Simersky, Jackson Simersky, Kaitlin Douberly, Megan Douberly and Hayden Douberly; special nieces and nephews, Susan Seamon, Nancy Waters, Kim Fulton, Bobby Herring and Dawn Ray; special friends, Ursula Fladung and Audrey McNeil; as well as other cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends. The family also greatly appreciates the excellent sitter service provided by GP In Home Health Care.
Helen was born in Prattville where she lived all her life with an exception for 6 years in Elmore County where she started school. Albert Sheffer and Helen married in August, 1947. She was a home maker until her two sons were in high school. It was then that she began working. First, in a department store, and then in the apparel manufacturing industry for about a decade. She enjoyed tending to the flowers in her yard and spending time outside, Braves Baseball, Auburn Football and hummingbirds. She was a member of Prattville First Methodist Church and greatly supported and valued the Autauga Interfaith Care Center.
A Funeral Service for Helen will be held at Prattville First Methodist Church at 100 E. 4th Main St. Prattville, AL 36067 at 11:00 am with a visitation one hour prior. Following will be a Graveside service at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers for Helen’s services will be Bobby Herring, Jackson Simersky, Hayden Douberly, Zach Sheffer, Josh Coleman, Chase Sawyer and Ralph Whigham as an honorary pallbearer.
In lieu of flowers the family requests for donations to be made to Prattville First Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.
