He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Willene Autery, parents, Willie and Maebell Autery; brother, Raymond Autery; sister, Tammy Ledbetter and granddaughter, Morgan Autery.
James is survived by her sons, Tim Autery and Ramar Autery (Nedra); grandchildren, Joey, Karen, Reggie, Jeremy, Brandon, Blake, Houston, Amanda; 14 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
James served in the Air Force active service for 20 years and 27 years in the postal service. In his spare time he liked to farm and raise cows.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026 fromm 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 1530 Bridge Creek Rd., Prattville, Al. 36067 with a funeral service to begin at 2:00pm. Burial will follow the service at the church cemetery.
