

James Robert “Bubba” Cook, 68, a lifelong Prattville resident, passed away Thursday September 8, 2016. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Sunday September 11th at the Prattville Wesleyan Church followed by a Celebration of Life Service with military honors 3:00 PM in the church sanctuary with Dr. Tom Ward officiating.
“Bubba” was born in Prattville on March 6, 1948 to the late Robert Cook and Anna Pogue. He was a U.S. Army veteran and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a retired supervisor with the City of Prattville Department of Parks and Recreation. “Bubba” loved sports and was an avid Prattville Lions and Alabama football fan. He was instrumental in the founding of the many youth sports programs in Prattville. He coached, mentored and cared for countless numbers of the city’s youth and was dedicated to serving in any way for the benefit of the community. He will always be remembered for his devotion to his family, his love and respect for his country, his hard work ethic and for his willingness to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie; three children, Carmen Perkins and her husband SFC Jason Perkins, Blake Cook and his wife Mandy, Amanda Fuller and her husband Jody; six grandchildren, Jessica Watson, Colby Watson, Tyler Cook, Stephanie Cook, Graham Fuller, Samantha Fuller; five sisters and two brothers in law, Mary Ann and Jimmy Allman, Marie Stanfield, Glenda Pogue, Brenda Martin, Linda and Kerry Teague and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many close friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Wyatt, Robert Clark, Rodney Martin, Ronnie Nummy, Tyler Cook, Colby Watson. In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to the Prattville Wesleyan Church or to the Prattville YMCA Field of Dreams.
