James T. “Jim” Haines, 76, of Wetumpka and a former Autaugaville resident, passed away Saturday September 22, 2018. Visitation will be held Friday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday at the Autaugaville Baptist Church with Dr. Garner Clark, Michael Gillyard and Tommy Bates officiating. Burial will follow in Rocky Hill Cemetery.
Jim was born in Warner-Robins, Georgia on November 14, 1941 to the late Travis Wayne Haines and Opal Tant Haines. He served for over 58 years in the commercial elevator industry including managing his own businesses. He enjoyed drag racing and other motor sports. He was a mason and a dedicated member of the Autaugaville Baptist Church for 35 years. Jim loved his family and will always be remembered for his hard work and willingness to help anyone in need. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Haines.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Haines of Wetumpka; a son, Eddie Norman of Grady, Alabama; four daughters and sons in law, Joette and Steve Rushton of Leesburg, Florida, LaDonna and Warren Winston of Jacksonville, Florida, Karla and Joe Salisbury of Rineyville, Kentucky, Julie and Larry Bates of Kansas City, Missouri; three sisters and brothers in law, Dorothy and George Reeves of Ellenwood, Georgia, Sara and Emory Moseley of Byron, Georgia, Kathy and Charlie Cartwright of Sandy Springs, Georgia; ten grandchildren and spouses, Erica and Joey Cholewa, Justin and Stefannie Randall, Travis and Erin Holmes, Markie and Steven Geon, Savannah and MacGregor Greenlee, Tori and Kane Maklary, Shane and Tiffani Holmes, Blade and Sarah Salisbury, Mattie Bates and Carter Bates; twelve great grandchildren, Hailee Gibbs, Tucker Geon, Justin Gibbs, Alex Geon, Landon Cholewa, Levi Holmes, Corabelle Geon, Waverlee Randall, Louise Greenlee, Rowan Holmes, Liam Maklary, Jackson Randall and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and close friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Autaugaville Baptist Church or to the American Heart Association.
