James Edward “Jake” Minor III, age 26, died unexpectedly on April 5, 2021. Jake is survived by his mother, Kayla Miller Minor Cleveland and her husband, Chip Cleveland, and his father, James Edward “Jim” Minor, Jr. He is also survived by his three siblings, Clifford Wayne “Ford” Cleveland III, Callahan Cleveland Minor and Camille Crawford Minor. Other survivors are his grandparents, Carole and Rick Miller, Dene Wadsworth Cleveland, and Martha and James Minor. In addition, he is survived by two aunts, Susan Miller Schmitt (along with her children Mitchell and Elizabeth “Bizzy”) and Celeste Cleveland Minor and two uncles, Danny and David Minor along with spouses and many cousins.

Jake graduated from Trinity Presbyterian School and attended Auburn University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and enjoyed Auburn football. Jake was a fourth generation Overhead Door and Fireplace (OHD) legacy. During his eight years of employment, Jake served in his initial capacity as a “helper” and eventually as Residential Sales Manager. Jake was able to develop relationships with all the employees of OHD but most importantly enjoyed working side by side with his mom. Jake enjoyed a full and active life. He was an outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed Lake Martin boating, his friends and it goes without saying that he loved Cash, his Labrador retriever. If you knew Jake, you know that he never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a big smile and those gorgeous blue eyes.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Prattville First United Methodist Church, with visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Capital Campaign at Prattville First United Methodist Church.

Jake was one of the friendliest and kindest friends when my son, Will, came to Trinity in 6th grade. Kayla, my heart breaks for you and I will continue to pray for you and your family.

In Christ's Love,
