

James A. “Jimmy” Perkins, 70, of Prattville, Alabama passed away Sunday August 23, 2015. Visitation began at 9:30 AM Saturday September 5th at the Big Union Christian Church followed by his funeral service at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Timothy Silmon officiating. Burial was followed in the church cemetery. Mr. Perkins was born February 7, 1945 in Calhoun, Lowndes County, Alabama to the late William Perkins, Jr. and Ethel Timmons Perkins. He was a former resident of Saginaw, Michigan and was retired after 35 years of faithful service from General Motors where worked in many of the plant operations including the assembly line. He was well known for his great skills as an auto mechanic. He enjoyed his work and loved fishing. He loved his family and friends. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his younger brother, LeRoy Perkins. He is survived by his loving wife, Lily Mushatt Perkins of Saginaw, Michigan; 4 daughters, JoAnn Perkins of Jacksonville, Florida, Peggy Perkins of Saginaw, Jessica Perkins of Dallas, Texas, Jatimah Perkins of Saginaw; two sons James B. (Akiema) Perkins of Saginaw, Lee Roy Perkins of Jacksonville; 4 sisters Martha L. Mushatt of Calhoun, Alabama, Lula (Eddie) Perryman of Calhoun, Emma Jean Perkins of Montgomery, Alabama, Maggie L. Perkins of Montgomery; 2 brothers William (Diann) Perkins of Houston, Texas, Sammy L. Perkins of New Orleans; an aunt Mattie Johnson of Birmingham, Alabama; an uncle Jack Timmons of Houston; 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. Pallbearers will be Eddie Perryman, Jr. James B. Perkins, Lee Roy Perkins, JayVon Pitts, Winston Reed, Jr. and Charles Hayes.
