

James Alvin Rainwater III was born to USAF Major James Alvin Rainwater Jr. and Mary Dean Rainwater on September 13,1957 in Albany, Georgia. He was a graduate of Stanhope Elmore High School and a carpenter by trade. He is preceded in death by his father, USAF Major James Alvin Rainwater, Jr., his mother, Mary Dean Stearns, and his wife of forty-two years, Kimberly Diane Rainwater. His biggest treasure was his family. He is survived by his five children, Amanda Michelle Cloman and husband, Courtney, of Moyock, North Carolina; Jessica Leigh Owens and husband, Matt, of Deatsville, Alabama; Audrey Elizabeth Norred, of Marbury, Alabama; James Alvin Rainwater IV and wife, Parker, of Memphis Tennessee; and Anna Belle Rainwater, of Elmore, Alabama. He is also survived by his sisters, Deborah Jean Gunden and husband, Steve of Naples, Florida; Tina Elizabeth Brower and husband, John of Fort Worth, Texas.
He was a loving Pawpaw to his nine grandchildren, Luke Smith, Caleb Rainwater, Holly Stephens, Rhett Owens, Laura Leigh Owens, AJ Norred, Ella Cloman, Joshua Cloman, and Kenan Rainwater and one great grandchild CJ Stephens. Carpentry was his trade but he was an avid music lover, found joy in reading, thoroughly enjoyed ice cream, and loved spending time with his family. He was loved by everyone who knew him and will be deeply missed.
His Memorial service will be held Saturday January 18, 2025 at Ridouts Brown Chapel in Prattville, Alabama. Visitation will be held at 1:00pm with a service at 2:00pm. A committal service will be held for family and friends at Bethesda Baptist Church in Billingsley, Alabama following the service.
