Jeniffer (Boxer) Powell was born August 10th, 1959, in Kingston, Jamaica. She was the fourth child of Lloyd and Monica Boxer, Sr. who both preceded her in death. Growing up, Jeniffer's nickname was Jenny Lou. She attended St. Margaret’s Prep, then St. Hugh’s High School, she graduated from Meadowbrook High School in Kingston. In September 1977, she immigrated to Miami, Florida with her family. In 1978, she met her future husband, Samuel Powell, who was serving in the Air Force in Homestead, Florida. Jeniffer and Sam married on July 6th, 1979. They were deployed from Homestead to Nevada, then to England and lastly to Alabama. They had two daughters, Tiffani and Monica, and a stepdaughter Letitia. After marriage, she began her career in banking, where she remained until she retired in 2018. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to six grandchildren Javon, Jania, Zoe, Marley, Mason and D’Jay.
Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, who she made to feel seen and supported. She never missed any of their school events or sport activities. She enjoyed watching movies, detective and cop shows, and fishing with her husband.
She was a guiding presence with unconditional love, quiet strength, and a steady source of wisdom and grace. She had a selfless heart of gold. She was cherished by all who knew her. We will always remember her as a beacon of strength and for her unwavering love.
