Jerome Wiley Gray

Our beloved Daddy (Pappaw), Jerome Wiley Gray, 98, slipped from this life into the presence of Jesus, Thursday, May 26, 2011. Funeral services were held May 30, 2011 at Bethsalem Baptist Church, 2990 County Road 24, Billingsley at 11:00 AM with Chaplains Ronald Beckham and Larry Layne officiating with Ridout’s Brown Service Chapel of Prattville directing. Graveside services followed in church cemetery with Military Honors. He is survived by three daughters, Barbara Gray (Wayne) Stuart, Jane Gray (Bill) Ivey, Martha Gray (Larry) Ellison; three sons, David (Alison) Gray, Paul (Marilyn) Gray and John (Lisa) Gray. He had twelve grandchildren, Jonathan Stuart, Mark Stuart, Elizabeth Gray Otero, Benjamin Gray, Matthew Gray, Holly Gray Moore, Gray Ivey, Tyler Gray, Katie Gray, Rachel Ellison, Christopher Ellison and Andrew Ellison. He had five great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. He was married to Mary Cadle Gray for 64 years who preceded him in death. He was a WWII veteran and served in the Army Air Corp. He was just honored on his 98th birthday for his service. He retired from Maxwell Air Force Base as a civilian. Pallbearers were Jonathan Stuart, Mark Stuart, Benjamin Gray, Matthew Gray, Tyler Gray & Gray Ivey. Honorary pallbearers were Rachel, Christopher and Andrew Ellison. The family would like to thank Baptist Hospice and especially Alberta Jackson, his caretaker for over 4 years, for giving great care to Daddy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baptist Hospice, Bethsalem Baptist Church or Disabled American veterans.
