Jimmy Grier

Jimmy C. Grier, 73, of Prattville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary “Ann” Grier and parents, George and Evelyn Grier. He is survived by his children, Lisa Gray (Jason), Ryan Nichols, Chet Nichols and Caren Lanier (Buddy); grandchildren, Josh Chambers, Justin Gray, Brittany Knight, Lakin Lanier, Catelyn Lanier and Hunter Lanier; great grandchildren, James Chambers, Mia Chambers, Autumn Gray, Mia Gray, Ryleigh Knight; brothers, Ron Grier (Margie), Mike Grier (Laura).

Jimmy was born in Montgomery, Alabama on 2/24/1950. As a young boy in enjoyed fishing and other outdoor activities, and also enjoyed working on cars. As a teenager he enjoyed playing the guitar with his dad and brother. After graduation from Sidney Lanier High School, he worked briefly for Blount Brothers Corporation. He then went to work with Golden Flake Potato Chip Company where he enjoyed a long and successful career. He also enjoyed ministering where his wife Ann would participate in services by playing the piano. He and Ann were long-time residents in Greenwood. Jimmy moved to Prattville due to health issues. His son Ryan lives in Prattville and was Jimmy’s caregiver in the later stages of his battle with cancer.

Funeral services for Jimmy will be Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 10 AM at Hales Chapel Baptist Church, 7548 N. US Hwy. 29, Goshen, Alabama with the visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Greenhills Cemetery. A reception will be held at the church following the burial.
