John was a navy veteran, a native of Montgomery, Alabama, an ordained deacon, and a retiree of the Montgomery Board of Education.
John was known to never meet a stranger, and in his free time he enjoyed being involved in the local Baptist churches.
He is survived by his daughter, Allison Terry and husband Jimmy; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Bates Jones.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with family at one o'clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 17th of August in the chapel of Ridout's Prattville Chapel. The funeral service is to be conducted at two o'clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 17th of August 2021 at Ridout's Prattville Chapel. The interment will be held at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Montgomery, Alabama on Tuesday, the 17th of August after the funeral service has ended.
