Johnny passed away on August 17, 2026, with his family by his side, after only a 2 ½ month battle with cancer. When Johnny was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, it brought some peace to his loved ones to know that he is no longer suffering and in pain.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Nanette Helms Stinson; sons Trey Stinson (Sherrie) & Chad Stinson (Hannah); daughter Summer Stinson; six beautiful granddaughters, Allie Lambert (Blake), Jayden, Addison, Rayleigh, Maddie & Hensley Stinson; two precious great-grandchildren, Hasten and Haisley Lambert; two brothers, Benny Stinson (Becky) & James Stinson (Debra); and sister Ida Guidy. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Kenny Stinson, Sr. and one sister Linda Tucker.
Johnny was in the car business for over 40 years and met so many people during this time; many of whom turned into extended family.
He loved his family dearly and cherished the times he and Nanette spent together at the ballfields and volleyball courts watching their children, and eventually their grandchildren, play sports. He loved the family times at the lake. However, all the kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews said – “Do not let him pull you on the tube”! He also enjoyed all the big family get-togethers throughout the year. He and Nanette loved going dancing and cherished the memories they made with his brother and sister-in-law and others while doing so!
Johnny was a jack-of-all-trades, a hard worker, and known to be tight with his money! He was always willing to lend a hand, no matter what someone needed. Johnny was regarded as one of the best—if not the best—billiard players of the 1970s and 1980s. Many will remember and miss his sense of humor, as he was truly a one-of-a-kind character. He enjoyed spending time with friends at car lots and shops and stopping by those on Lower Wetumpka Road to aggravate his friends there. Johnny will always be loved and never forgotten.
Funeral services will be held at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel, on Sunday, 8/23/26 at 2:30 with Mark Fronduti officiating. The family will receive family and friends from 1:30 – 2:30 prior to the services. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Montgomery, AL. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Lindsay, Joe Harrison, Pete Baldwin, Ronnie Best, Harold Cottle and Tony Haynes. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Moseley, Jessie Greenburg, Mitchell Allen, Bennete Baxley, Mike Pirtle, Fort Hargrove, Brandon Mims and Mike Bracknell.
