Judson Dearl Estes
March 18, 1939 – February 27, 2018
Judson D. “Jud” Estes, of Independence, AL died at the age of 78 on February 27, 2018. Visitation will be held March 3, 2018 at 10:00 am with funeral to follow at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel with Rev. Tony Antonelli and Dr. Garner V. Clark officiating. The burial service will follow at Rocky Hill Cemetery. Jud was proud to have served in the Alabama Air National Guard and USAF Reserve in Austin, TX retiring from the 924th Tactical Fighter Group. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence H. Estes and Jessie McCain Estes; sister, Mary E. Carr and brother Reginald Estes. He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Julie H. Estes and two sons, Barry G. Estes (Becca), Bart R. Estes (Sonya) and his sister Jessie E. Neighbors. Also survived by eight grandchildren, Kayce (Josh) Thomas, Krystin (Sean) Valieant, Ryan, Hunter and Brent Estes, Brooke (Brandon) Hilyer, Brandon (Amy) Strickland, Blynne (James Mark) Dismukes as well as eight great grandchildren, Alyana and Robert Valieant, Rebekah-Jean Thomas, Wyatt Estes, Parker and Logan Hilyer, Sadie Strickland and Jae Dismukes. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association (aha.org), Altzheimers Foundation of America (alzfdn.org) or to either Autaugaville Baptist Church or Autaugaville United Methodist Church.
