Leila Donovan Kendrick, 91, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 21st, at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Lamar Lyon officiating. Burial will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Kendrick was born on May 23, 1927, to the late Albert Donovan and Minnie Lola Arnold Donovan. She earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Auburn University and was a retired home economics teacher from the Alabama Public School System. She also taught Sunday school for over 60 years at the White Pond and Dalraida Baptist Churches and was a longtime W.M.U. Leader. She loved her family and enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, and gardening.
She will always be remembered as a devoted follower of Christ. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Junius L. Kendrick; three daughters and sons-in- law, Carol and John Pennington, Karen and Art Toalston, Mary and Bill Pope; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. F. Donovan and Beth Kendrick, Tom and Natalie Kendrick; thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and close friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to White Pond Baptist Church for the Lottie Moon Missions Offering, 1155 County Road 49, Marbury, Alabama 36051.
