Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Wednesday May 4 at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel followed by her funeral service at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Brett Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Garner was born on March 30, 1923 in the Beat 14 area of Elmore County. During her early years she formed a lifelong friendship with Governors George and Lurlene Wallace. She was close to the couple and helped campaign for them during their various terms in office. She was retired from the U.S. Civil Service at Maxwell Air Force Base where she served for many years as the secretary to the base commanding general.
She will always be remembered for kindness and willingness to help anyone in need. She is survived by a sister, Eloise Collins; one grandson, Brett Baker; two granddaughters, Marcy Corser and Kim Thornton, and her husband, Bo and a host of great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews other close family members and friends.
