FLEMING, Mary Elizabeth, age 94, a resident of Prattville, AL passed away Friday, July 5, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Gadsden, AL December 3, 1918. Upon graduating from Jones Valley High School in Midfield, AL she worked in Civil Service from 1937 until retiring from Charleston Army Depot in 1973. She was a devout Christian who was well loved by many and was an active member of the Republican Party and served in many community activities. Visitation will be held at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 10:00 AM followed by funeral service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Scott Arnold officiating. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2:30 PM in Valhala Cemetery in Birmingham, AL. Mrs. Fleming was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie E. Fleming; father, James C. Sparks; mother, Dolly Sparks and a sister Mitzi V. Sparks. She is survived by her only son, Phillip Fleming and several other relatives. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the local Salvation Army.
