

Michael Shields, age 79, of Deatsville, Alabama passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025. He was the son of Yvonna Dean Jones and Jessie Patrick Shields, was born December 22, 1945 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. After graduating Dunaway High School in Missouri he attended College of the Ozarks. In 1968 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was proud to serve his country, which he so deeply loved. Just before receiving orders for a tour of duty in Vietnam, he was stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base, where he met his wife of 55 years, Linda Age Shields.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Pat Shields and Deane Shields, his sister Belinda Young, brother Tim Shields and nephew Joshua Young. He is survived by his wife, their three children, Michelle (Lance) Woodham, John (Sabrina) Shields, James (Jessica) Shields and sister Susan (Kevin) Hettig. Mike loved his children, grandchildren and wife greatly, and loved his numerous nieces and nephews as if they were his own children.
Later in life, Mike loved watching his grandsons excel in baseball and loving on his beautiful granddaughters. God gifted him with a beautiful voice, which he used to touch many hearts while leading music in many churches in the Montgomery and Millbrook area over the past 55 years. Mike was well known for his witty humor and loved to pick on others just to make them laugh. He loved his family, watching Auburn football and the game of baseball. Above all, he loved his Savior, Jesus Christ.
A visitation for Michael will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Brush Poppers Cowboy Church, 46 Sanford Lane, Wetumpka, AL 36092, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM.
