

Funeral services were Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Ridout's Prattville Chapel
Burial was followed in the Montgomery Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Newman was born October 10, 1938 in Troy, Alabama to the late Joseph Selmon Newman and Thelma Ballard Newman. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a master upholsterer. He operated his own upholstery shop for many years. He later worked in the upholstery shop for the City of Montgomery, retiring after many years of service. He enjoyed cars and often applied his skills by restoring antique automobile interiors and upholstery. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Keith Newman.
He is survived by his two daughter and sons in law; Sonya and Charles McInvale of Millbrook, Monica and Mike Baldwin of Burlington, N.C.; a brother and sister in law, Phillip and Tootsie Newman of Deatsville; a sister, Lydia Newman of Fairhope, AL.; two grandchildren, Cory McInvale and Raegan Baldwin; a lifetime friend, Margie Newman Cook and a host of nieces, nephews and other close family members. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT.
