Roscoe Aaron Williams died, after a prolonged illness, on September 4, 2022, at his home in Prattville, AL. He was born in Miami, FL on February 10, 1944, to parents Roscoe and Adelle Williams. The family moved to South America for his dad’s work and lived there for five years. Afterwards, they moved to Clanton, AL where his father and uncle went into the motel business. Roscoe graduated from Chilton County High School in 1962 and then attended the University of Alabama where in 1966 he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce and Business Administration. Roscoe married Jacquelyn McClure and went to serve our country in the Army as a Captain in Germany and Korea for three years. After his time in the Army, he went back to the University of Alabama School of Law and graduated with his Juris Doctor degree in 1973. He and his family then moved to Prattville to join his father in the motel business. In Prattville, Roscoe was an active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, a Trustee and Life Board Member of Prattville’s YMCA, a board member of the First National Bank, a member of the Kiwanis Club, and a board member of Holiday Isle Towers in Destin.
Roscoe was truly honored to have served as a co-chairman of the River Region Honor Flight. The first flight of five was in 2008 and overall, they were able to take a total of 443 World War II veterans to Washington, D.C. to see their memorial. Roscoe is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jackie, sons Scott Hampton Williams and wife Melanie, and Christopher Dison McClure Williams and wife Amy, grandsons Marshall Scott Williams and wife Karlee, Garrett Hampton Williams, Christopher Dison McClure Williams, Jr., and granddaughter Ann Elaine Fitzpatrick Williams. He is also survived by his brother Richard Quenton Williams and his wife Luann, his sister-in-law Marilyn Camp Jones and her husband Joe, and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Besides being with his family, Roscoe was happiest being at Alabama football games, with friends on the beach in Destin, FL, displaying many American flags on the beach for the Fourth of July and Memorial Day, and taking his children, their wives, and the grandchildren on family vacations to Europe and Mexico.
The family would like to especially thank Fannette McNeil, Sharayne Simmons, Sandra Ross, Venita Dozier, and Enhabit Hospice for their loving care and comfort.
The Service of the Burial of the Dead will be Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 4:00 pm at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 178 E. 4th St., Prattville, AL, 36067.
