

Sarah was born on November 11, 1939, to Arah Berry Mullins and Clayton Alonzo Mullins in Walker County, AL. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Andre Monteith; her parents; her sisters, Beatrice “Bea” Garrigan, Frances Hallman, Bennie Barnett, and Dee Lester Mills; and her brothers, Bruce Mullins and Melvin Mullins.
She is survived by her sister, Melinda Sillavan (Bobby) of Sumiton and her brother, Lacy Mullins (Jean) of Jasper and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Sarah had a long career at U.S. Pipe. Soon after high school, her first position was working as a bookkeeper and during her later years she had moved up to secretary for the president. Sarah enjoyed being active in her professional secretary organization, as well.
After her retirement, she and Andre enjoyed traveling and spending time at their home on Lake Logan Martin. Sarah especially loved hosting family and friends for holidays and other gatherings, creating many cherished memories for those fortunate to attend. During the last two decades of their life together, Sarah and Andre made their home in Trussville, AL.
Throughout her life, Sarah was devoted to her faith and actively involved in the church. She was a member of the Daughters of the King and valued the fellowship, service and friendships found through her church community.
A memorial service celebrating Sarah’s life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St Simon Peter Episcopal Church in Pell City, Alabama. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Jennifer L. Riddle.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to St Simon Peter Episcopal Church, 3702 Mays Bend Road, Pell City, AL 35128.
