

Sylvia Sandra Carter was born to Frances and Grady Spigner on August 18,1948 in Selma, Alabama. Sandra grew up all over the United States and the Philippines. She returned to Alabama to finish her high school years and in November 1965 Sandra gave her life to Christ and was baptized. She met the love of her life, and future husband, Roger Carter, the next year in 1966. Roger and Sandra were married on August 28, 1970, at Bethel Baptist Church in Jones, Alabama. Sandra attended Wallace Community College where she was trained to be a Registered Nurse, she would continue this career path at Selma Medical Center, in Selma, Alabama until 2001, working in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where she helped heal, and touched so many lives. Roger and Sandra raised their children in Jones, moving to Prattville in 2010, and finding their home at First Baptist Church in Prattville.
Sandra was an amazing woman, wife, nurse, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, cook, confidante, religious scholar, comedienne, and Christian. She will be missed everyday.
She is survived by her husband Roger, her daughter, Kristen Lawrence (Curtis Reinheimer), her son, Craig Carter (Krista), grandchildren, Nicholas Carter-Hough, Christopher Lawrence, Johnathon Lawrence, Meredith Lawrence, Caroline Bassett (Dylan), Travis Miller, great grandson, Ryan Lawrence JR, and sisters Karen Threadgill and Peggy Granthum.
A visitation for Sandra will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 12:00PM to 1:00PM at First Baptist Church, 138 S. Washington St., Prattville, Al. 36067, with a memorial service to begin at 1:00PM. The family welcomes you to join them in the chapel after the service for a time of remembrance.
