Theodore William McQuiston

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Theodore “Ted” William McQuiston who passed away on August 17th, 2026 at the age of 54 in Prattville, Alabama.

Born on January 30th, 1972 in Fairfax, Virginia, Ted was raised in Prattville, Alabama, a community that remained central to his life and identity. Ted attended Troy University, where he forged lifelong friendships and memories that stayed with him throughout the years.

One of Ted's greatest joys in life was being a father to his two sons, Theodore William "Will" McQuiston Jr. and Wesley Magers McQuiston. He loved them deeply and took immense pride in their accomplishments. Whether attending football games or band performances, Ted could always be found in the stands cheering them on. He was especially proud to see both of his sons graduate from college and begin their lives as outstanding young men.

Ted's love for Prattville ran deep. A gifted athlete, he was a standout player on the Prattville High School football team. His love for the game carried on as a lifelong fan of the Auburn Tigers. Beyond sports, Ted was known for maintaining countless friendships throughout his life. His warmth, generous spirit, quick wit, and infectious sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Ted is survived by his sons, Will McQuiston and Wesley McQuiston, his siblings Heather McGovern (Chris), Michael Godwin (Sandra), Christopher Godwin (Missy), and Melissa Godwin (James), and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sandy and Hilton Godwin and Bill McQuiston.

A celebration of Ted's life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Autauga Interfaith Care Center (AICC) in Ted’s honor.

Though Ted is no longer with us, his love, laughter, and larger-than-life spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy lives on through his sons, family, friends, and the countless lives he touched along the way.

Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.
