It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Art on Sunday morning. He went home to be with the Lord with his children by his side at the Rotary Hospice House.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude, daughter Betty Ann Shiels and husband Eric, son Arthur and wife Joanne, his grandchildren and their wives Joshua and Ryann, Stephen and Kristen , Nicolas, Matthew and Kassie, his great grandchildren Jayden and Zoe, and his brothers, Bill, Adolf, Dieter and George and their families.

Art was born in Europe and immigrated to Canada in 1948 with his parents Gustav and Helene along with Aunt Martha and his brothers. They settled in Barrhead, Alberta where he began his carpentry career working with his father. It was in Barrhead that he met the love of his life, Gertrude Elbe and they were married on June 8, 1956. They moved to Edmonton where he worked for Poole Construction and built their first house. Arthur junior arrived in December 1958. They returned to Barrhead in 1962 where he again worked with his father at Buse & Sons. Betty Ann arrived on Gertie’s birthday in March of 1963.

In 1969, Art moved his family to Prince George where they have resided for the past 51 years. He worked for Viking Construction until his retirement. After which he became more involved in the community with Kiwanis, serving as president, for a number of years and Habitat for Humanity where he assisted in the construction of numerous homes in Prince George. He was actively involved in Our Saviours Lutheran Church where they attended and faithfully served for 51 years. Art and Gertie enjoyed visiting family, gardening, travelling, and warmer climates in their retirement years and cherished time with family.

Art will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church 11:00am on Saturday, March 14, 2020.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Prince George Hospice House or the Prince George Cancer Clinic.

"Arturo" as my dad called him. Will be remembered as a construction legend here in PG. Dad and Art worked closely for over 30 years on big projects all over PG. Dad still talks highly of Art. He was a hard, honest worker and a good friend. Our deepest condolences to the Buse family. May the memories give you all peace.

I wanted to add my sympathy for the entire family,

Art was a great person with a wonderful sense of humour.

I enjoyed my visit with Art and Gertrude a few years ago and saw Art's beautiful back yard garden.

Many pictures on the site brought back many special memories.

All my love to Gertrude at this difficult time.
