Our family sadly announces the passing of Beverley Buckman in Prince George on April 27, 2024. Pre-deceased by the love of her life, best friend and husband Jim.
Bev was born and raised on the family farm near Yorkton, Sask. As a young child, she was thrown by a horse which resulted in a hospital stay. This sparked her desire to work in healthcare, but did not diminish her love of horses.
While training for her career as a Registered Nurse, she met Jim at a country dance, their love brought them to Prince George. Over the next few years, the couple moved several times for Jim’s job, as a heavy duty mechanic working on big construction projects around the province. Bev’s nursing skills enabled her to obtain positions wherever they moved. They enjoyed meeting people and exploring many parts of the province.
Shortly after settling back in Prince George, Mom worked at the Prince George Hospital on the pediatric ward for many years as she absolutely loved children. While raising her own children, she was a key and essential partner in the success of the family business. They moved to Creston for several years, but returned to PG shortly after their first grandchild was born. She enthusiastically shared countless hours with all her grandchildren, and fed their curious minds to develop a true love of learning.
Bev was an avid reader, with a very inquisitive mind and continued to educate herself in traditional, herbal and natural medicines as well as psychology. The family joke was that she had been in every bookstore in Canada and USA, in their extensive travels throughout their lives.
Family always came first. To Bev, family included relatives, loved ones that she considered family, and of course, the family cats and dogs. Bev provided the foundation of a healthy and clean lifestyle, including supporting her partner in thousands of camping, fishing and hunting trips throughout the years. She was an advocate for children and those in need, and embraced everyone with a kind and warm heart. She demonstrated how to be a strong person and to fight for things that mattered. She is also remembered for her smile and the glint in her eye when she was working on a prank.
Survived by: her daughters Sandra, Dawn, Becky (Vito), son in law Kelly, grandchildren Sean (Christine), Sabrina, Kira and great grandchildren Foster, James and Rosie. She is also survived by extended family and so many friends that were a part of our lives. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Society or one that helps children. No service by request.
