Dallas Kai Werbecky

Dallas was born in Prince George, BC to his proud parents, Corrina and Frank Werbecky. His birth brought great joy to his sister Kaleena, and it completed their family of four. As an infant, Dallas was a happy baby who had an infectious smile, a beautiful head of hair and bright hazel eyes. He enjoyed playing with toys and exploring his environment. Dallas had a fondness for ice cream and anything peanut butter. He regularly pounded his fists on his highchair table eager to eat which led his father to call him “Bam Bam”, a nickname that stayed with him all his life.

Dallas embraced his childhood with curiosity and joy. He loved elementary school and the friendships he formed there. He especially cherished time with his Opa, who introduced him to golf. While the sport itself didn’t capture his heart, the one-on-one moments with Opa meant the world to him. A lifelong Star Wars fan, Dallas also found joy in sports, particularly basketball and baseball. He achieved two out-of-the-park home runs – one of the highlights of his baseball experience.

During his high school years at Duchess Park Secondary, Dallas continued playing school and league sports. Beyond athletics, he was a talented writer, earning high marks for his essays and short stories. With his easy going nature and sense of humor, he made many friends, filling his high school days with adventure and laughter.

After graduating in 2019, Dallas explored different job opportunities before enrolling in part-time studies at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) in 2021. He pursued various electives before deciding on a degree in Computer Science. In 2023, he secured a position with UNBC’s Distribution Services Center, where he enjoyed walking the grounds and greeting everyone with kindness and a smile.

Dallas had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, thriving in the mountains, oceans, lakes, and rivers of British Columbia. He loved exploring new places, with Fernie and Tofino being recent favorites. When traveling outside Canada, his happiest place was the condo in Kihei, Hawaii. An adventurer at heart, he embraced physical fitness, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, hiking, and rock climbing. In his downtime, he enjoyed gaming, thrifting, and reading. Never afraid to reinvent himself, he often surprised family and friends with new hairstyles and tattoos. His beloved dogs, Rowan and Oak, held a special place in his heart.

Dallas was a beautiful soul inside and out. His radiant smile and genuine nature allowed him to connect effortlessly with those around him. With an old soul and a playful spirit, he never took himself too seriously, often acting goofy just to bring joy to others. He valued authenticity, cherished his friendships, and, above all, loved his family deeply.

Unexpectedly and tragically, Dallas passed away on January 13, 2025.

He is survived by his heartbroken parents, Corrina and Frank Werbecky; his sister, Kaleena Werbecky (Jorden Birks); uncles Robert Werbecky, Blaine (Robin) Werbecky, Duncan (Cheryl) Werbecky, Barry (Tonya) Kruger, Alan (Christine) Kruger, and Jim (Toi) Borgula; aunts Joan (Errol) Schell and Sue (Bill); cousins Megan, Anne, Crystal, Reece, Shaun, Runee, Jordan, Meghan, Ben, and Ethan, as well as numerous extended family members, friends, and colleagues.

Dallas was predeceased by his grandparents, Frank Sr. and Anne Werbecky, Erwin and Angie Kruger; aunts Linda and Judy Werbecky; and most recently, his cousin Beau Schell.

A Celebration of Dallas’ Life will be held at the Canfor Theatre at UNBC on Saturday, February 22, at 1 PM, officiated by Pastor Brad Bergen. Light refreshments will be served afterward. In honor of Dallas’ favorite color, those attending are encouraged to wear something green.

The Werbecky family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dallas’ friends, colleagues, and the administration at UNBC for their unwavering support during this difficult time. The family deeply appreciates Pastor Brad Bergen for honoring their beloved son, brother, nephew, and cousin who they will forever mourn, never forget, and always cherish.
