OBITUARY

George Edward Harrison

September 7, 1928 – March 9, 2022
Obituary of George Edward Harrison
IN THE CARE OF

Assman's Funeral Chapel

George, was blessed with a long and healthy life. He passed peacefully in the comfort of his own home, with his loving wife, Sharon Jo-Anne, of 61 years, by his side.

He leaves behind his two daughters Charlene (Ted) Smart, Georgina (James), Stevenson, his two sisters Dorothy (Everett) Giese, and Beatrice (Cecil) Armstrong his 7 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

Predeceased by his parents Henry Edward Harrison of London, England, Georgina Almeda (McDonald), of R.M. of Woodworth, Manitoba. His two brothers Donald Spiers (Dorothy), James Spiers (Phyllis), and two adopted daughters, Elaine ( Kiyawasew ) Harrison, Melanie (La Rocque) Harrison.

George was born in Virden, Manitoba and at an early age his family relocated to Snowden, Saskatchewan to live on a homestead. In the early 1950’s, he came to Prince George and began his career working in the forestry industry. He worked for the Giese brothers (EM&K Sawmills) for many years, and later at Artic and Lakeland Mills.

His enjoyment of physical work was his legacy from growing up on a homestead where every day required hard work. Working with others cutting cordwood to sell and fall harvesting on the neighbouring farms-built friendships that lasted a life time.

George found great satisfaction in constructing two homes, one on Richet St, and the other at Ness Lake. He was always a farmer at heart and found pleasure in the simple things of life. His family came first and his grandchildren spent countless hours shooting hockey pucks, reading stories, wrestling, cuddling and just hanging out being a warm, patient and loving grandpa.

George was known around the family for being the champion arm-wrestler. It would take many years for the grandkids to be able to beat him. His stories of growing up in another time will be held dear by his grandchildren.

George loved hokey, old-time country music, peanut butter cookies, Oh Henry chocolate bars, coffee, walking and shovelling snow. He was a loyal friend, a good neighbour, a kind hearted, generous, and peaceful man. He saw the good in everyone. His absence will be deeply felt.

The family would like to thank, Dr. Lauri McCoy, Home and Care Nursing Services, and

Rapid Mobilization Team, and Assman’s Funeral Home for their warm supportive, compassion, and professionalism.

A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date to commemorate George

and the memories we treasure.
