Margaret Ann MacKenzie (nee) Blimkie was born November 11, 1935 in Grande Prairie, AB where she was raised. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton in 1957 along with her three lifelong friends Stuey Gunn, Shirley Schooler, and Marg Lindsey. Ann worked in many hospitals during her early years, eventually meeting William MacKenzie (Bill) in Prince Rupert, BC. They married and started a family, relocating to Prince George, BC in 1965.
Ann, aside from being a Mother of three, Bill, Carolyn, and Louise, practiced nursing in Prince George. She worked for PGRH, Simon Fraser Lodge, and Parkside Intermediate Care.
Ann enjoyed camping and the outdoor life. Bill and Ann had two different cabins they built at Pinchi Bay on Stuart Lake. After many fun years they decided to move closer to home, acquiring a cabin on Cluculz Lake where many more years of memories were made with family and friends.
Ann was predeceased by her husband Bill, her parents Herbert and Margaret, and brothers Bert and Rob.
Ann moved to Fort George Manor, where she spent her later years. She enjoyed the location and the people, and friends she made at the Manor. A special thank you to Phyllis Bray.
She is survived by her son Bill (Coral), daughters Carolyn (Kevin), and Louise (Art), as well as 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Our family would like to give our heartfelt thank you to mom's partner in crime Diane Allen. Thank you for all of the laughs and all of the ice cream.
Ann was admitted to Hospice on Friday June 13th and passed away Sunday June 15, 2025. She had a strong faith that supported her through her final hours. She was at peace and told us all that we needed to be at peace as well. She was strong to the end. She will be missed by all who knew her.
