Neil John Kennedy

Born in a small farming community in Saskatchewan, Neil grew up with four brothers and one sister. Growing up as a prairie farm boy, his love for the outdoors and the farming life never left him. Neil’s wish was to spend his remaining days on his daughter’s farm just west of Prince George. Neil once again embraced the ranch life, naming the cattle and enjoy tractor rides whenever the opportunity presented itself. Neill was a pleasure to have on the ranch with his quick wit and humor.

As a teenager, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and spent 25 years in the RCAF serving Canada in Logistics, travelling the world and eventually returning home to Canada to raise a family.

Neil had a love for life, the greatest sense of humor and a passion for sports and community. You could find him playing sports, shooting a game of pool or cutting the rug at the local Legion Branch. Neil was part of the Honor Guard for Remembrance Day Ceremonies for many years. His service to his country and RCAF was true until his last days, earning a lifetime membership of the Royal Canadian Legion. Neil won the honor of contributing the most donations to the local Poppy Fund for Remembrance Day, as he would entertain passersby with his fiddle music.

Neil loved family get togethers and music. Many gatherings were spent playing his fiddle, accompanied by his daughter on piano entertaining whoever was in attendance.

Neil will be missed by all that knew him. He leaves behind his loving wife, Linda; his daughter Maureen; two stepchildren; five beautiful grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He left cherished memories for all and will never be forgotten.

To find the words to sum up one’s life, is to measure the love those that knew him hold in their hearts. There is a void that is now there but slowly filling with fond memories of the man with the easy smile a laugh and a passion for life.

Forever, walk in that Red River Valley, Neil.
