Rita Helene Francis

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rita Helene Francis on November 27, 2025, in Prince George, BC. She was born in Lumby, BC on February 27, 1961, and lived a life full of love, teaching and music.

Rita will be lovingly remembered by her husband, David Francis; her children Rene Francis (his partner Karen Flores Muro), Louis Francis, Madeleine Milne (her partner Corey Milne); and her twin sister Therese Martin and her family.

Rita will be remembered by her local church community for her many contributions such as playing music and singing for many occasions, working as a music teacher for both privately and for schools such as Sacred Heart Elementary. She was always lending a helping hand, often accompanied by a sly remark or jape as a complimentary add on.

She was an amazing mother who always looked out for her children and provided support, a gardener without equal, an excellent baker and cook (just ask Rae about Rita’s French bread) and a top tier thrift store sleuth who always somehow found the perfect item for the person she was thinking about. In quieter moments she would spend her time watching British murder mysteries, reading books borrowed from the local library and relaxing with her dog Derwin.

Rita’s service will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral, located at 887 Patricia Blvd, Prince George, on December 1, 2025, at 3:30 PM.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many friends and supporters for their memories and kindness. They would also like to extend their thanks to the staff of the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia for their hard work and care during Rita’s stay.
